Sustainability Efforts in MiddletownSustainable Maryland Certified: The Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland announced that Middletown was one of seventeen Maryland municipalities honored at the Sustainable Maryland Awards Ceremony at the Maryland Municipal League’s annual Fall Conference on Tuesday. The Town was certified at the new Silver level. “It is an honor to be re-certified as a Sustainable Maryland municipality”, said Burgess John Miller. “We continue to go green in Middletown, planting over 300 trees in the last two years to help create a sustainable and Tree City USA town. Our Sustainability Committee continues to save the Town and our residents money by implementing the only community-wide composting site in Frederick County. Because of efforts like these and much more, our Sustainability Committee continues to greatly improve our quality of life in Middletown.” –John D. Miller, Burgess
