The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires water systems to develop an inventory of all service line pipes in their water distribution system and classify the materials of their service line pipes as either Lead, Galvanized Requiring Replacement (GRR), Non-Lead, or Lead Status Unknown. The Town of Middletown has complied with the initial service line inventory submittal date of October 16, 2024. A copy of Middletown’s LCRR Service Inventory is below. 

The LCRR Service Inventory may be searched alphabetically by address to determine the lead status of your service line. If your house was constructed after May 17, 1972, by law no lead service line could have been installed. 

Through multiple waterline replacement projects, the Town has not found any lead service lines. Lead connectors (less than 24” were found previously) but none remain in Town streets. If your search yields a “Lead Status Unknown SL” you will receive a letter from the Town requesting you schedule an appointment for Town staff to determine your service pipe material where it enters your structure.
