CODE YELLOW PRESS RELEASE

 DATE: February 6, 2026

The Burgess and Commissioners of Middletown are changing the status of the Town’s Water Conservation Alert System from Code Blue to Code Yellow.  What does this mean?

  • Ground water conditions are decreasing at a rapid rate. The U.S. Drought Monitor places Middletown in a severe drought status

What does a Code Yellow status mean for Middletown residents and businesses:

  • Watering of lawns is prohibited.
  • Additional voluntary water conservation is requested. Residents are requested to follow water conservation practices as outlined in “20 Tips to Prevent Water Waste” found on the town’s website.

The purpose of this change in the Town’s Water Conservation Alert System is to keep residents/businesses informed of the status of the Town’s ground water sources. Groundwater sources are directly affected by rainfall events.

Any questions should be directed to the Town Office at 301.371.6171.
