Candidate for the 2026 Municipal Election

Amanda Stone-Gines, her husband Rob Gines, and their two children, Lu & Bennett, are proud to call Middletown their home. Their children are students at MES & MMS, respectively, and are involved in swimming and track and field. Amanda and her family have three rescue dogs, Smudge, Spice, and Frankie, whom they love to take along the Middletown trails. Amanda grew up in a small town in Tennessee and has called Maryland her home since 2016. She witnessed a close family member live with a severe mental illness, and that experience ignited her passion for helping others. Amanda is a firm believer that a life of purpose is one dedicated to the service of others.

Amanda graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts. She works as a Finance & Contracts Specialist for a software analytics company. Amanda began as an advocate, lobbying Congress to expand healthcare access for veterans. Since then, she has become a proven advocate for many causes including being a crisis helpline volunteer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Locally, Amanda is a volunteer for the Friends of the Middletown Library group, Girls on the Run and recently opened Peach’s Little Free Pantry Middletown to help her neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

Amanda wants to work for the people of Middletown. She loves the small-town culture of Middletown and understands the importance of accountability and transparency in local governance. Amanda values a fresh perspective and that is what she is offering - fresh leadership rooted in service.   Amanda is someone who doesn’t believe that “just because we have always done it this way” that we can’t find another way to do it -with a genuine desire to serve and listen to viewpoints from all sides.

Amanda is concerned about development, water treatment plant funding, town sustainability, senior services, and safety. If entrusted with your vote, she pledges to be an advocate for policies that promote honesty, fairness, and accessibility for all residents. Amanda is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of her neighbors and is ready to serve them. Amanda is running for Middletown Commissioner to protect what makes our town special while planning responsibly for its future.
