Lead & Copper Rule Revision (LCRR) Scheduler

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) are requiring the Town of Middletown, and all municipalities in Maryland, to conduct a Lead & Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) Service Line Inventory.  The purpose of the inventory is to identify any lead components in all town-owned and customer-owned service lines connecting to the Town’s drinking water distribution system.

The EPA and MDE are requiring Middletown to comply with the LCRR mandate and the Service Line Inventory requirement, by October 16th, 2024.  These requirements include the initial service line inventory, notification to persons served of known or potential lead service lines, Tier 1 public notification of a lead action level exceedance, and other associated reporting requirements.

Beginning on Monday, July 15th, 2024, Middletown’s Utilities Department will begin service line inspections of identified properties in town which meet the requirements.  Town staff will need access to the interior and exterior of each identified home or business, particularly where the utility services are located.

Property owners have two options to schedule the appointment for this work.

They are welcome to call Town Hall and schedule an appointment at 301-371-6171.
