Position Objectives

The Municipal Service Worker – Seasonal Position is a temporary seasonal position under the direct supervision of the Public Works Superintendent and Public Works Foreman. The position performs a variety of entry-level duties related to the maintenance and repair of Town facilities, parks, streets, and infrastructure.

This position performs a wide variety of physical tasks including the use of hand tools and operation of equipment, general maintenance work, custodial work, grounds maintenance, and other labor-related duties as assigned.

The typical work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; however, work hours may vary based on operational needs, weather events, emergencies, or seasonal demands.

Pay Range:

• $18.00 per hour.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist Public Works Staff with the routine maintenance and repair of Town-owned buildings, grounds, parks, streets, and infrastructure.

• Perform mowing, weed trimming, landscaping, and general grounds maintenance at Town facilities and parks.

• Assist with street maintenance activities including patching, cleaning, and debris removal.

• Assist with work zone safety by setting up barricades, signs, cones, and other traffic control devices.

• Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely and effectively.

• Clean, organize, and maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and work areas.

• Assist with maintenance activities involving water and sewer infrastructure, including hydrants, meters, and utility areas.

• Perform general custodial and maintenance duties at Town facilities.

• Follow all Town safety procedures and policies.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Public Works or Public Works Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Ability to perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment.

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the public.

• Physical ability to lift and carry 50–75 pounds.

• Ability to work in utility areas including confined spaces, ladders, stairwells, catwalks, and uneven terrain.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Required Certifications or Licenses:

• Valid State Driver’s License.

Desirable Training and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
