Larry K. Bussard, Commissioner
Larry Bussard is a life-long resident of Middletown. He has been married since 1967 to Sue Bussard, they have one son, Kevin, one grandson Grayson and one grand-daughter Olivia. Larry cut hair in Middletown for over 50 years. He was the owner of Bussard's Barber Shop on 19 W. Main Street.
Larry served on the Middletown Planning and Zoning Appeals Board for ten years. The Appeals Board met approximately five to six times a year to decide the fate of proposed variances to the Town's zoning ordinance.
Larry is a Life Member of Amvets Post #9 and was Post Commander for three terms. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Amvets for over 20 years. He has also served on the Rut Keller Scholarship Committee for twelve years. This committee awards a scholarship of $1,000 a year for four years to a deserving Middletown High School senior.
Larry has been a life-long collector of Middletown memorabilia. He was on the first organizing committee for Middletown Heritage Weekend and has displayed his collection several times during Heritage Weekend. He likes to share his knowledge of Middletown history, and occasionally presents informal discussions to groups such as the Middletown Historical Society.
Larry's concerns are Middletown's water supply, schools, infrastructure and keeping a balance budget that addresses the Town’s needs now and in the future.
Larry's goal is to keep the quality of life in Middletown, as he knew it while growing up here.
